Jess Tayenjam

Jess Tayenjam (Sidney Sussex, 2007) is a rugby Blue, the first openly queer and first person of colour to Chair the Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club (CURUFC), and the first female to lead CURUFC as a combined men's and women's club, in its 153-year history. She is a modernising leader, helping the club to become more financially stable, laying the foundations for future students to enjoy rugby at Cambridge for years to come.

 

A former President of CUWRFC, a member of the Varsity team in 2011 and a member of the Ospreys since 2009, Jess has played a key role in combining the men’s and women’s rugby teams at Cambridge to form one cohesive club. She also led the transition of the Varsity Matches to the StoneX Stadium in 2024, returning the event to profitability for the first time in 5 years.
