Hugh Fell

Hugh Fell (Trinity Hall, 1974) is a longtime LGBT+ activist.

Hugh was General Secretary of the North West Campaign for Lesbian & Gay Equality, in which role he was instrumental in organising the March, Rally and Festival against Clause 28 in Manchester in February 1988. He led negotiations with Greater Manchester Police, was the person legally responsible for the march, controlled the events on the day in conjunction with the Inspector in charge, and gave the interview that was broadcast on the BBC national news that evening.

Hugh was there at the founding of The Albert Kennedy Trust, the world's first LGBT+ homelessness charity, and was the Trust's first carer. He was also involved in the founding of the co-operative that set up Scene Out, a magazine for the LGBT+ North of England. Having helped rejuvenate the UK's charity supporting families and friends of LGBT+ folk, Hugh remains a trustee of FFLAG and a campaigner for LGBT+ equality.
