Elliot Vaughn
Elliot Vaughn MBE (Clare, 1994) is Managing Director and Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group, based in London, where he specialises in Healthcare and Social Impact. Beyond his client work, Elliot serves as People Chair for BCG’s business across Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America. He has served as the global leader of Pride@BCG, the firm’s LGBT+ network.
Elliot is the founder and chair of the UK charity GiveOut, which has raised and distributed more than £2.5m to 40 LGBT+ activist groups around the world and for which Elliot was recognised in 2023 with an MBE. He serves as co-chair of New York-based Outright International, the leading global LGBT+ advocacy NGO, and since 2016 has been featured as an OUTstanding LGBT+ Executive Role Model leader.
While an undergraduate at Clare College Elliot led what was then known as the LBG group for CUSU, introducing the "Assume Nothing" awareness campaign and the "Freedom Book" on LGBT+ inclusion which went into every pigeonhole in the university. Also at this time, Elliot met his husband Colin Horswell (Clare, 1994). They went on to serve alongside each other as CUSU Sabbatical Officers in 1997-98, and are now celebrating 27 years as a couple.
At BCG Elliot has authored a number of studies on LGBT+ inclusion, such as ‘Why the first year matters for LGBTQ+ employees’ and ‘New global champions – why fast-growing companies from emerging markets are embracing LGBT+ inclusion’. He contributed to a groundbreaking global study in 2023 on trans/non-binary inclusion in the workplace.
In 2023 Elliot featured in a documentary on the Stonewall Postal Action Network about his activism in the early 1990s between the ages of 16-18.
