“I'm really proud to be a part of this exhibition.  There was a time when every one of this Q100 list would have been shunned and vilified for being different. Now, we can celebrate that originality of character because with it comes a game-changing mind that doesn't just follow the crowd in a game of 'samethink' but is brave enough to come up with new concepts, fresh ideas and creative answers. Changing the narrative helps transform shame into pride, exclusion into exclusivity and it makes everyone want to be a part of this very special gang.”

Clare Balding (Newnham, 1990)

“It is wonderful to see this Alumni list being put together and an honour to be included. Cambridge was the place that taught me that I could not only come out but have the potential to thrive by doing so. I feel that I have been paying back that privilege ever since. I hope that initiatives such as this give many more generations of students the confidence and comfort to be themselves, and to use Cambridge as the launch pad to take that agency out into the world and make a real difference.”

Dame Julia Hoggett, DBE (Newnham, 1993)

Mishcon de Reya is delighted to be supporting the Q100 and its inaugural exhibition at Girton College. Celebrating equity, diversity and inclusion is part of our DNA at Mishcon, and we are proud of our long history of championing LGBTQIA+ rights. More than 50 years ago our founder Lord Mishcon sat on the Wolfenden Committee, which recommended that homosexual behaviour between consenting adults in private should no longer be a criminal offence and eventually led to the passing of the Sexual Offences Act 1967. Many of the trailblazing individuals featured on this Q100 list reflect on how their ability to live authentically and proudly, and to be who they are, has been directly impacted by the lack of legal protection and societal acceptance they experienced during their time at Cambridge and since. We believe in supporting and giving back to our communities, and are proud to help to amplify the stories of this impressive list of individuals who in their various ways are driving change and helping LGBTQIA+ people to thrive.
